Requirements for Citizens of EU and EEA Countries
Aged between 18 and 29 years old.
Unmarried and without minor children of your own.
Your family cannot accompany you to Denmark.
Adequate knowledge of Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, English, or German to communicate successfully.
Requirements for Citizens of Other Countries
Aged between 18 and 29 years old.
Unmarried and without minor children of your own.
Your family cannot accompany you to Denmark.
Adequate knowledge of Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, English, or German to communicate successfully.
Have not previously had a residence permit for Denmark.
Requirements for Host Families
At least one parent in the host family must either be a Danish citizen or have resided in Denmark for an extended period.
One or more minor children living permanently in the household.
Not receiving any public assistance funds.
May not employ more than one au pair at a time.
Pay DKK 17,000 to the Danish Agency for Labour Market and Recruitment for financing Danish courses for au pairs.
Take out three types of insurance: one against work-related injuries, one covering leisure time accidents, and one covering serious illness or other injuries.
