Requirements for Au Pairs
Aged between 18 and 30 years old.
Unmarried and without children.
Basic knowledge of English or French.
Citizen of Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico*, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, or Ukraine.
Sufficient funds (typically 2,500 CAD) and a return ticket.
Initially apply for a Working Holiday Maker visa for Canada.
Requirements for Host Families
At least one child under 18 lives in the household.
Provide a separate room for the au pair.
Expect the au pair to assist with childcare and light housework.
Speak English or French in daily life and represent Canadian culture.
Different nationality from the au pair and no familial relation.
